Graduate Schemes
We have run our Graduate Schemes for a number of years, continuously improving their effectiveness. During that time, we have been very successful in identifying and developing high calibre graduates, who have subsequently taken on demanding and important roles.
Our Graduate Schemes are an excellent way to start a career at a company that values its people. M&G endeavours to support and encourage personal development in an environment that rewards individuals who display ambition, independent thinking and professionalism. Graduates are placed on high profile projects from the outset to expose them to the various business areas and systems at M&G.
Throughout the Programme, Graduates have a vast support network and are given comprehensive training, including:
- A ‘buddy’ from the team
- A six week introductory training programme to Investment Management
- An opportunity to complete industry qualifications: IMC and CFA (course specific)
- A variety of on-going training courses to develop your interpersonal skills

Audit
Audit Scheme Graduates will be placed on high profile audit reviews across a wide range of business units within M&G and have the opportunity to work on projects in the Prudential Group globally. Performing audit reviews around the business gives a new graduate a unique opportunity to explore and understand functions from all areas of the business and develop a complete overview of the organisation.
Business & IT Analysis
Business Change interfaces with front, middle and back office helping to understand their needs and deliver change. In addition Business Change works closely with the Information Systems department to develop technology solutions to meet the business needs. Business Analysts on our graduate scheme are integral members of the project team, adding valuable insight into all aspects of the project life cycle. From gathering requirements from the business, providing analysis to develop solutions and working with the business to test and implement change.
Commercial Management
The Commercial Management scheme is designed to give you a broad introduction to the management and operation of an investment firm, while providing early exposure to a range of challenging business experiences. This scheme covers company wide rotations in many of our business units, including Equities, Fixed Income, Group Operations, Retail and Prudential Property Investment Managers (PRUPIM).
Compliance
Compliance helps the business to understand financial service rules and regulations and seeks to prepare the business for changes being driven by our regulators. In essence Compliance helps the business to do what it wants within the letter and spirit of the law. As a Graduate within the M&G Compliance team you will develop strong knowledge of the financial services business and the regulatory environment in which we operate through providing support on day to day monitoring and inspection visits.
IT & Technology
Information Systems is responsible for developing, integrating and maintaining the critical software and technology that underpins M&G operations and strategy. We believe in using best of breed enterprise and open source platforms and technologies including: Java, Oracle, WebLogic, IBM MQ, .NET and SQL Server to provide innovative and robust solutions that meet the needs of the business. System Developers on our graduate scheme design and build software to meet the needs of the business, collaborating closely with users and business analysts to turn functional requirements into working solutions.
Investment
During this scheme you will gain in-depth exposure to many of the front office investment areas within both Equities and Fixed Income as well as the wider business. Comprehensive training is provided, both technical and professional. For example the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) and Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) programme are both part of the programme.
Quantitative Modelling (PMG)
The Portfolio Management Group (PMG) sits between Prudential and M&G to direct Prudential’s Asset Allocation within M&G. It is the in-house investment strategist and 'manager of managers' for the Prudential Group in the UK. The Graduate Trainee will use mathematical models to produce returns for the various asset classes that the funds invest in. This will not only put financial modelling skills to the test but will also develop programming skills in order to build asset models that simulate asset returns over the long term for a large number of scenarios.
Risk
Central Risk Assessment is responsible for risk oversight of M&G, seeking to ensure that the company manages risks in accordance with the expectations of its clients, shareholder and regulators. The Graduate Risk Analyst is an integral member of the Central Risk team. From challenging business units on risks /controls and actions, developing / communicating and embedding the risk framework and policies, production of MI for the M&G Risk Committee, review industry best practices and apply to M&G risk management processes where appropriate.
How to Join
To join us you will need to have strong academics, minimum 300 UCAS points (340 UCAS points for the Investment scheme) or equivalent (best three grades only) and possess a 2.1 degree or equivalent.
