Our Commercial Banking business is home to a great pool of talented bankers as well as our core commercial and corporate client franchise in the UK. Our common goal is serving our customers well. Together, we match suitable products and services with our clients and customers to help them reach their long-term goals.
Our interns spend 10 weeks with us, including a one week induction, and you’ll get a great insight across a specific area of Commercial Banking. You’ll be based in London, Birmingham, Manchester or Edinburgh. And you’ll enjoy workshops, a spotlight session, a Commercial Project and much more.
What you can expect?
We have a variety of areas for you to learn from. Our Transaction Services UK and Mentor areas bring together treasury and banking solutions for clients, alongside consultancy services in employment law & HR, and health & safety. From working on complex financing transactions in Capital & Transaction Management, and taking care of our largest customers’ complex financing needs in Large Corporates and Sectors, to shaping our strategic agenda in our Chief Operating Office - our areas unite to deliver a great service for our customers.
You can see how our Corporate & Commercial Coverage teams provide relationship based banking to UK businesses to support their future growth. Or you could join our Real Estate experts, as they provide financing to the real estate and property sector with a strong commitment to our customers evolving needs. You could even be helping our specialised financing units; Lombard Asset Finance and RBS Invoice Finance provide their award-winning products to our customers.
Who we’re looking for
We’re looking for graduates who share our passion for outstanding customer service. You’ll enjoy engaging with key stakeholders across our business and building trusting relationships. We’ll also look to you to bring your analytic and people skills, which are essential within Commercial Banking.
A can-do attitude, and engaging and friendly approach will make sure you can make the most of your experience with us. You don’t need any specific UCAS points but you should be on course to achieving a 2:1 degree.
Development and support opportunities
To make sure you get the best overview of what we do, you’ll take part in Lunch & Learn sessions and technical training, and have the support of our Commercial experts. You’ll also have a project based assessment to see how far you’ve come on.
If you share our passion, perform well and take a real interest in what we do, you could secure a place on one of our graduate schemes. Our graduate programme offers a wealth of opportunity. There are also numerous roles you could go on to do. From being an Assistant Director helping to support client relationships and working on complex financing deals, Entrepreneur Strategy Manager, to Digital/Marketing roles, Private Banking, and Capital Management – you can choose where your future leads.
