ICAEW is a professional membership organisation, supporting over 142,000 chartered accountants around the world. Through our technical knowledge, skills and expertise, we provide insight and leadership to the global accountancy and finance profession.
You can become an ICAEW Chartered Accountant by taking the ACA, a full-time professional qualification. You start your ACA training on graduation with one of our 2,850 authorised training employers around the world, who'll fund your professional qualification.
Our authorised training employers recruit to their business needs, so some have set deadlines for September, January and April while others operate a rolling-recruitment programme. It's best to apply as early as possible in your penultimate year at university as vacancies are quickly filled. You can view our latest ACA Graduate Training Vacancies with our authorised training employers on our ICAEW Training Vacancies online jobs portal.
You can take your ACA qualification in either financial services, industry, practice, public or the not-for-profit sector.
Your responsibilities will vary depending on what sector and area of chartered accountancy you choose to specialise in. You can take your ACA qualification in Audit and Assurance, Information Technology, Forensic Accounting, Taxation, Risk Consulting, Financial Reporting, Business Insolvency and Recovery, Corporate Finance or Financial Management.
To become an ICAEW Chartered Accountant you don't need to have A-level maths or have a background in accountancy or a business-related subject at university. ICAEW Chartered Accountants come from a diverse range of backgrounds and our authorised training employers recruit on UCAS points and degree classification. If you have completed a relevant degree, you may be eligible for credits. You can check your credits on our credit for prior learning section of the ICAEW website.
The ACA qualification lets you develop your knowledge, skills and experience which really focuses on enhancing you as a professional. You'll earn a competitive salary, learn the skills you need for the profession and gain at least 450 days of professional work experience. You can qualify in as little as 3 years and can use the globally recognised ACA designation after your name.
But it's not all about study . . . We also ensure you'll be given an ICAEW Chartered Accountant as a mentor so you can talk to them about any issues you may have. Some of our authorised training employers also operate a peer buddy scheme, so you can talk about what's in store for you one year on.
This year, we are aiming to fill over 6,000 ACA training vacancies worldwide and each authorised training employer has their own selection criteria and recruitment process.
Our authorised training employers also have internships and placements as well as graduate opportunities, so come and talk to us on campus about kick-starting your global career in accountancy, finance and business or alternatively, have a look at our careers website below and contact us on Facebook.
